Aging and My Mid-Life Crisis

I can't believe that I am now 40. It sounds SO OLD. But I don't feel like I should be THAT old. Its depressing. I think I'm having a harder time accepting this then I did for when I turned 30.

It's scary. To be frank and a little macabre, you have to start planning for end of life stuff. There is a lot I have yet to do with my life. But to be planning old people stuff, its scary.

How much longer am I going to live? How can I do this the healthiest that I possibly can? Should I buy life insurance for my other half and I? How can I increase our retirement savings. (Going on a cruise a couple times a year is not helping with that savings.) At what age should I sign up for AARP?

I had one friend die of Pancreatic cancer this past year. It hit him hard and sadly fast. I had another friend in November pass due to complications with pneumonia and his diabetes. I seen him in the store a week or two before he passed and he was out of it. I googled both their names when I did n…

Turning The Heat Down

Tonight I went to Ghetto Renew to get 4-6miles in on the treadmill. I was actually looking forward to working it on the treadmill. There were 2 ladies there that I have never seen before but they were heading out when I was heading in.

I got my fan and set it up at the front of the treadmill and turned the TVs on to Comedy Central to watch the last half of Workaholics and the 1st half of The Daily Show.

Plodding at my 1st mile and the fan felt good on the lower half of me. But the top half was distracted by the heat blowing down on my top half.

I was almost done with my 2nd mile when I accidentally hit the STOP button and my machine came to a stop and cleared.

I went to go get a sip of water and look at the thermostat.
72 degrees! It's like it is summer! I actually wrote a note and left in on the front desk if it was possible to turn the temp down. Then I went back to plodding my third-ish mile. Now that I know that the heater is on blowing on me, it just psyched me out.

I then went to use the 3 of the 4 machines in the building made for legs. It has been about a year since I did any serious/regular leg work.
Standing squat machine. 2x12 at 100. I was at 200 2 summers ago....
Hamstring leg press. 2x12 at 80 pounds. Sounds about the same from last year.
Quad press 2x12 at 60 pounds. A little less weight then last year. I tried going out at 80 but it felt oddly stressful on the knees. Didn't want to chance it just yet.

After that, I tried the treadmill again. 2:20am and I was mentally annoyed. So I just packed it up to type this out. Now bedtime.

What was your workout? Does your gym keep the temps ok or is just me thinking that this is my own personal gym and I should keep the heat where I want it? Remember, we only have 1 fan for the whole building and it is the group exercise fan. I think part of me thinks I should have just finished my 4 miles instead of just doing 3.
