Aging and My Mid-Life Crisis

I can't believe that I am now 40. It sounds SO OLD. But I don't feel like I should be THAT old. Its depressing. I think I'm having a harder time accepting this then I did for when I turned 30.

It's scary. To be frank and a little macabre, you have to start planning for end of life stuff. There is a lot I have yet to do with my life. But to be planning old people stuff, its scary.

How much longer am I going to live? How can I do this the healthiest that I possibly can? Should I buy life insurance for my other half and I? How can I increase our retirement savings. (Going on a cruise a couple times a year is not helping with that savings.) At what age should I sign up for AARP?

I had one friend die of Pancreatic cancer this past year. It hit him hard and sadly fast. I had another friend in November pass due to complications with pneumonia and his diabetes. I seen him in the store a week or two before he passed and he was out of it. I googled both their names when I did n…

Love and Secrets

Just throwing a quick post out here. I just want everyone to know that I love Luna Bar. Not just because they help women with the Breast Cancer Fund, and use natural, organic ingredients that taste great. Actually, that is why I love Luna. They also are starting a Boise LunaChix Tri-team this year too.

Have you tried the new Honey Peanut Pretzel bar? OMG -YUM! I got some goodies yesterday, thanks to them via Twitter - @Lunabar If you are not following them (or me @RunInBoise as I think of it....) you should.

Pic post-munch on the Honey Peanut.

I have tonight off of work. I will be going, sans BF but with my BFF, to the PostSecret lecture at BSU. I am excited about this. I don't have many secrets. I am not afraid to talk about or share anything. Although I am more concerned about how others judge on things others say. (There are a bazillion things I want to put into this blog, which I may eventually. But want to keep it mostly about my running journey. Although so many non-running things affect my running.) But it is interesting to think about what others know and have experienced, why they do what they do.I am excited about this lecture tonight. It is not sold out and tickets are $10 for non-BSU students.

A non-running post on suicide is one I think I will be making later in the year. Someone I have known since I was 15 committed suicide last year. I cried constantly for 2 weeks straight. PTSD in our Veterans is a very real issue!

One other random bit of info that I want to throw out into the bloggerverse. I was thinking my bathroom scale was broken. I weigh myself everyday and track my weight into The Daily Plate. Weight fluctuates daily. No big deal. But this week, my weight didn't move for 3 days. I thought the scale was broken. But this morning, it shows that I am down 10.5 pounds from the beginning of January. (Oh, one of my secrets that I won't share at this time is my weight!) I am not sure if sticking with a high protein diet with very limited bread is what the secret is, or if it is working out in the middle of the night after work doing it but I guess I better keep doing whatever I am doing. And I better get outside and slog before it gets too late and the temps get below 40 degrees!

 What is your secret?
Do you Love Luna bars?
What is your workout today?
