Teton Dam Marathon Review

On the 2nd of June, I woke up at 4am to make a 3 hour drive to eastern Idaho for the Teton Dam Marathon. I did the 5K.

Did I mention I woke up at 4am to make a 3 hour drive. Yeah, not the best idea for legs to be in PR shape. My leggies were stiff and at 1100 more feet of elevation then at home, it was a slow trot for sure. No PR attempt this trot, that's for sure.

I woke up at 4am (my normal wake up time is 8am - 10am depending on the day) so that early is  painful. I had everything all packed and ready the evening before- brekky, post-race clothes, snacks, and a full tank of gas for the long drive. All I had to do was make coffee and head out. I didn't even brush my teeth before I left. Coffee first.

The drive was nice and not a lot of traffic for a Saturday morning. I don't know the last time I have been to Rexburg, but it was easy to find the race start. I thought the race started at 8am, but that was the 10K. The 5K started at 8:30am and I got there to get my bib at …

Noms For The Trail

My ankle (from rolling it on the trail this past Sunday) is not 100%, but I plan on slogging it out on the TM this weekend. Today, it feels pretty good compared to a few days this week.

Not running all week did not stop me for buying some goodies for my next jaunt on the trail.

Trail Runner magazine had an article about No More Gels. That is exactly what I am interested in! I just did not want sweet last weekend and really wanted a more savory flavor. Plus, I think I get enough carbs in daily and need to learn to burn more fat when I run.

I was at Wal-Mart getting other things and just happened to come across them. I picked up 2 different flavors (Carrot, squash, apple and pea, spinach and apple) and already stashed them into my Camelbak for my next time I need them.

I don't know what it is, the colder weather, stress about the final election results, I felt like eating everything plus some this Tuesday & Wednesday. I also have not drank enough water, either. I am attempting to get back on the wagon today.

I spent an hour working out today. I started 20 minutes after waking up. You can't really see my bad bed head above.

5 minute elliptical warm up
1/2 hour of weights, abs and upper body, watched Colbert
1/2 of elliptical while watching Wings

As much as I love Pacific Health Lab products, really I do. I will pick their products over anything else. But I am not afraid of experimenting with other energy products while I run. And this winter is all about experimenting. That is one reason why I picked up the Peter Rabbit Organics stuff. Has anyone tried any of the lower carb products or no sugar, like Ultima Replenisher or the Vitargo while running?

  1. How do those taste?? :) The fall and winter months always make me feel like I need to store up, in my body. Boy if we could just hibernate!

    1. Yeah, I feel like I have been storing up extra food all week! It is such a bad thing! lol
