Re-Thinking High Calorie Holiday Drinks

I'm pretty guilty on this. Consuming a lot of my calories through beverages. The cream and sugar in my coffee is always more then what it should be. Those Starbucks drinks are enough calories they should be a meal. Plus the wine and other libations, its a real waist expander!

I just received this email about a good calculator for trying to find the best drink to enjoy at this upcoming holiday functions.

Re-Thinking Your Holiday Drinks Many of us enjoy some "holiday cheer" this time of year, but those festive drinks can carry
quite a caloric punch!  Knowing how many calories your favorite drink has can help you make smart choices and avoid unwanted holiday weight gain.

Friday Favorites - ToiletTree Products

I have tried Toilettree Products before & I am glad that they are letting me share more goodies with you again this Holiday season. This post is sponsored by Toilettree Products & no other compensation has been given.

I was given the 4-shelf Bamboo Freestanding Organizing Shelf. It comes in 3, 4 or 5 shelves varieties and I thought it would make a good addition to my closet I have to build in my basement. My plan is to add baskets as shown in the pic below & throw in my random & small running stuff - gloves, beanies, waist belts, reflective blinkers, ect. We are currently remodeling a bathroom & bedroom & turning it into a bedroom & closet - there is no closets in 2 of these bedrooms in this house. The bathroom is still needed but that is another project farther down the line. First is just to organize my clothes & running stuffs.
Our bamboo organizing shelf is made from the highest quality eco-friendly bamboo. Assembly is quick and easy, and our dura…

Every Body Yoga Book Review

I am still reading away on a few ebooks I can download onto my phone. After the election, I received a free year subscription to The New York Times and that has been cutting into the book reading time. But I am slowly plugging away at the pages. Maybe a page or two an evening but its still page turning.

This blog post is a quickie review of Jessamyn Stanley's new book called Every Body Yoga.

I know you have had to have seen Jessamyn on Instagram as she has a bazillion followers. Plus shes been in magazines for being "body positive" and being a plump girl in a sports bra and leggings doing yoga. I think that her flexibility is awesome. Actually living the yogi lifestyle is something she appears to be doing while being true to herself. She always looks happy and I like that.

This book gives a background into Jessamyn's life and her discovery into the yoga practice that she does today. The way this book is written is part biography with a little section of basic poses …

Timex Has Bummed Me Out

I'm a little bummed at Timex right now.
This ONE GPS+ watch was over $300 and I have had it just over a year. I had 3 years of data on this watch and now I have no data. I can't upload my workouts and stats to any site now - I was able to upload to Runkeeper and Strava. Now I have an overpriced watch that I can and should have kept my phone and its GPS functions instead of an additional accessory.

And is $50 and a half off code really a deal? Like I said this watch was over $300.

Took my new @timexsports #OneGPS for a half hour spin today. This new toy is pretty fun. I'm hoping this will pull me out of my workout funk I've got going on this summer. Rocked my @hokaoneone and @soxxysocks too! #swag #sweatpink #girlsgonesporty #fitfluential #igrunners #runnerscommunity #runningshoes #shoeselfie #raceprep #runnersofinstagram #letsgohoka #soxxy A photo posted by runinboise (@runningandwineing) on Sep 10, 2015 at 11:22am PDT

(Re) Losing Weight

So, all of my weight I lost last year, I gained it back. :-(

It was all because of lack of running, eating whatever was near, and drinking my wine. All of my clothes are tight. AND I did actually get rid of all of my "fat" clothes from when I lost weight as a motivation to not re-gain. So, I actually had to buy a pair of jeans so I had something to wear other then elastic waist running clothes.

I have put off getting a gym membership all year -but I did buy a treadmill earlier this summer. But my local small Po'dunk town had a Black Friday sale on gym memberships and I had to get on that. $190 for a whole year. They don't have a ton of equipment but they do have an indoor track I can slog on. I've gone a couple of times and even though its not my dream gym, it hasn't been too bad.

So this month is all about the weight loss. I didn't want to be starting this on January 1st. Mainly because of my Black Friday deal. Mainly because I can't fit into my jea…

A Perfect Gift For Spartan Race Fans

I'm in full on Holiday mode. I have been trying to find my other half the perfect gifts for Xmas but, seriously, he is the hardest person to buy for. Hes kind of a brat and has such high standards that its really hard. There are some things that he wants, but they are not the things that come up only during Xmas. Like, for the past few years, hes wanted a sterling silver pitcher. It has to be a good size and it has to cost below scrap silver value. A specific used antique like this is hard to find and even harder to find in the days leading up to Xmas. This is just one example why hes hard to buy for.

I kinda wish he was a into doing Spartan racing because there are 3 new Season Passes I could choose from for him.
2017 Spartan Trifecta Pass

What you get:
3 race codes, valid for calendar year (2017)1 Spectator Pass (to be used with Race Code)Free Bag CheckValid for all heats (including Elite & Comp.)Valid for Continental USRace codes aimed at Sprint/Super/Beast, but can be used …

Healthy Tips for the Holidays

I got these tips from an email I was sent. I feel that it is full of good advice to share with all of you. I have been trying my best to add more veggies and water in my day. I could just tell that the weather changed outside as the desire to drink water just disappeared. I have been forcing some hot tea down when I don't want a bottle of cold water.

Tips to Keep You Happy & Healthy During the Holidays Eat Well Hold up. Practice the art of eating to 80% fullness. Imagine a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being full to the point of feeling bloated and ill. While you're eating, check in with your fullness factor and aim to stop when you feel between a 6 and 8 on the scale. Taste of reality. If you have a habit of tasting food while cooking or standing in front of the refrigerator, count every bite as 25 calories. For fun, designate one day to put everything you would have tasted into a baggie. At day's end, add up the calories...you may be surprised at how quickly &qu…

Tips to Avoid Overeating

Winter Holiday Overeating Avoidance (or WHOA!)
Over the course of a single day, the average person makes more than 200 food  decisions -- most of them unconsciously. These choices include when, what, where and  how much to eat, and can drastically affect our weight.
Portion sizes are influenced by factors like plate size (larger plate = more food) and packaging (i.e. eating straight from the box or bag vs.consuming a pre-measured amount on a plate or in a dish). To help cut calories, buy smaller plates and skinny glasses. Repackage that barrel of pretzels from Costco into snack-size bags. Minor adjustments like these can help pare 100 to 200 calories from your daily diet, and help you lose 10 to 20 pounds a year!

Tips for Developing Calorie Consciousness:
1. Truly savor the flavor of your food

2. Expect social distractions and take precautions

3. Check to see how hungry you are before you take your first bite

4. Put the fork/spoon down…

As a Level Up Virtual Runs Ambassador, I'm pretty excited to share with you the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales coming up.

Also, the December medal idea is out. Isn't it super cute!?

It also needs a name. What would you name the December run using the medal idea above?

Do you share your real self online?

Do you share your real self online? I found this blogging writing prompt on a bloggie site and thought it is fairly interesting.
I think that a lot of people do have an honest portion of themselves online, but they don't share the negative or the tears.  Most bloggers who have a"brand",  have their "brand" online, but edit the other parts of their lives out. Or they may be fearful of stalkers or whatever.

I don't know if its because of what I feel my "brand" is, or that I'm naturally honest and open about my feelings and thoughts, I don't think I edit out as much as others.

The only opinion that I keep off my online channel is politics and religion. I feel to each their own on those and my opinion is not going to change your thoughts and feelings. Oh, and bank account info. I don't think that has a place online, either. :-)

If I like a product, I like a product and want to share with you. If my MIL or boyfriend is causing a ruckus in…

All Vaycay Pics - Lotsa Pics from LBC & Cruise

After we left off on the previous post, we got up the next morning, hopped on the Deuce to go to Fashion Show to hit Starbucks for coffee and a quick brekky sandwich before checkout. After checkout we went to Long Beach. Let's just say I am NOT a fan of California. I hit the border of CA & NV and I HATE the traffic already. Not a fan Cali, not a fan.

Oh, and most of the pics I took were of food while on the cruise.

I was actually thinking of running 2 races while in LBC before the Cruise. There was one the day after we got into town in Huntington Beach but I decided against that because of the drive. I didn't want to drive in Cali traffic.  BUT I did do the Bimbo Global Energy run. It was a short 3K along the beachfront. The 3K was not timed but it was nice to do a race in somewhere not local to me. The swag was something else. We got a bag, hat, towel, LOTS of samples from the vendors. Muscle Milk and CO2 coconut water, plus a ton more. There was a free sandwich at the …
