#BeFitAllYear BeFit Workouts, Weightloss & a Giveaway!

This February has been a total bummer in the workout department for me. I know I caught a cold bug when I went to WalMart the evening of February 1st. I was starting to get rid of it. Then I caught something else. I was sick with something for about 3 weeks of this month. It sucked. So all of my workouts were put on hold because of it. I lost a little bit of weight, but not from doing any workouts.

Now as we move into March, things have changed. I think I have finally shaken off that bug and I can enjoy this lovely weather outside!

I was trying to start the BBG workouts this year but since I could not do the last few weeks, I am starting over on BBG1, week 1 on Feb. 29th.

I did get to enjoy the weather outside and do 4 fasted miles on Friday. I spent 4 hours chopping and sawing trees on our back lot on Thursday. I chopped until I could not grip the axe anymore. I had 4 days of DOMS in my HANDS! (We won't mention that my left upper ab muscle had a muscle cramp on me 3 times after I…

Let’s Spice Things Up with Some Mustard

Let’s Spice Things Up with Some MustardFebruary 17th, 2016/Alex RebleLifestyle / Winemaker's Journal Shears and saws are actively used in the vineyard around this time of year. This is truly pruning time in the Napa Valley. This special time of year creates beautiful scenes filled with fantastic fields of color.

Cover crops used by our winegrowers provide wonderful, colorful blankets that Monet, Van Gogh or Renoir would certainly envy.

While the vineyard manager can choose from scores of different choices for cover-cropping, some vineyards just go with a “volunteer” cover crop, one that naturally grows when winter begins and water is abundant. One of the most widely used volunteer cover crops in wine country is the mustard plant.

There is no need to replant mustard. Each plant produces an enormous quantity of mustard seeds, so much so that if one were to remove the plants that grow each year before they seed, it is likely that around 40 years’ worth of seeds are in th…

The Ultimate Wine & Cheese Pairings

The Ultimate Wine & Cheese Pairings Coffee and cream. Peanut butter and jelly. Wine and cheese. As pairings go, there’s none better than wine and cheese. Though great on their own, something wonderful happens when wine and cheese are enjoyed together. Rich, creamy or salty cheeses complement the acidic and tannic qualities of wine – balancing out the flavors in the mouth and creating delicious harmony. If you’re planning a dinner party, or Hosting a Wine Tasting and need an idea of where to start, these wine and cheese pairings are matches made in heaven.

Merlot + Gouda
A mild, semi-soft cheese like Gouda is particularly fantastic when paired with a tannic Merlot that showcases plenty of red, ripe fruit.

TRY WITH: Lumière de Vie 2012 California Merlot Joy Cellars 2014 Lodi Merlot

Zinfandel + Havarti
A powerful wine with spicy or smoky flavors like a Zinfandel is counteracted by the mild creaminess of this Danish cow’s milk cheese.

TRY WITH: Fleur Bleu 2014 Californi…

VALENTIA True Glow Eye Cream & Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask Review

This post is sponsored by Valentia and no other compensation was given.

I have been lucky to try other products by Valentia before and I have been pretty happy with them in the past. Since I am getting older I am a stickler for what products go on my face. I have to make sure that they don't cause breakouts and are hydrating / anti-aging. I am dreading the saggy, wrinkly old lady skin. Thankfully with the 2 newest products by Valentia, I don't have to worry about that.

For those who have loved our Even Glow Serum, you can now try our True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask.

True Glow Eye Cream - A luxurious antioxidant rich eye cream that helps lock in moisture, repair and tighten skin for a youthful looking glow around the eye area.

AND

Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask - A blend of amino acids and hyaluronic acid work together to flood the skin with moisture providing intense hydration and nourishment.

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve o…

January Sucess & SAVE THE DATE

I just want to put this out there for the Twin Falls, Idaho peeps - Save the Date of March 24th!

I asked the Magic Valley Full Moon Trail Runners if I can have a Pearl Izumi "takeover" of their March full moon run. They agreed. Isn't that cool? I have lots of swag and some snacks. So, if you can make the March 24th full moon run, that would be great.

Ok, on to what happened January. Well, I didn't stick to my fitness and workout plan and I had planned. I did eat clean for about 75-80% of the time. BUT I did indulge in some Starbucks and wine.

My weight still dropped about 8 pounds just from that. I think that is pretty fantastic. This time last year, I was killing myself at the gym for about 4 hours a day and eating clean about 95% of the time. Knowing that the diet makes THIS much difference is amazing to me. Indulging in something that makes me happy is nice, because dieting / weight loss isn't an all or nothing deal. My body can make some progress in moderatio…
