Just Keep Running! Just Keep Running!

You know how I told you a few weeks back that I was a Level Up Runs ambassador? Well I'm excited to announce July's virtual run. "Just Keep Running" Featuring Dory and Marlin from Finding Nemo/Dory

These race medals are no joke. That are pretty darn awesome. I never got to show you my last 2 medals from the last 2 virtual races.

See. These things are so awesome. They are huge - almost as big as my head, heavy, and really detailed. I don't think I've done a race with this awesome of swag before. So, I am pretty thrilled about this next race. The whole Dory and Nemo thing is pretty cute.

You can register by visiting our website at www.levelupruns.com. Use the code Loyal10 to save 10% off your entry. Don't forget to add a brand new Level Up Virtual Runs Running Belt to your order. these belts come with LED lights that have 3 modes (Fast Flash, Semi Fast Flash, and Constant) They come in Pink, Red, Blue, or Green. They fit…

I Was Going To Register For A Race...

The other half and I received race entry codes for Boise's FitOne Race the last weekend of September. September 24th.

I registered for said race and thought that's cool. A race I have not yet done in Boise.

Then I looked at my calendar.

You know, I REALLY SHOULD have looked at the calendar before getting the itchy race registration finger.

I am going on a CRUISE the next day. So I won't even BE in Idaho. Silly me.

September is gonna be a very busy month for me and its such a good month for racing. The first week of September I'll be peddling wine at the fair. 12 hour days for a week. It was fun last year but I couldn't do anything else. I was 100% dedicated to my booth.

The week after that will be dealing with the fair after effects. Calling back leads and whatnot.

The week after that will hopefully be some travel down to Cali to go on my cruise. It's my first cruise and I am pretty excited. I'm so excited that I'm already planning on booking my next c…

Let’s Talk About Gases… in Winemaking

Let’s Talk About Gases… in Winemaking
When you think about gases and wine, most likely the tiny bubbles in a sparkling wine is the visual that springs to mind, but gases play various roles when it comes to wine. Gases present a lot of challenges that cannot be ignored in the creation of quality wines. Today, I will give you a little bit of detail describing their effects and uses in the process of winemaking.

Argon ( Ar ) occurs naturally in the atmosphere and makes up around 1% of the air around us. Made when compressed air rapidly cools down, argon is a favorite gas of many winemakers. Inert gases such as argon are essential to manage the headspace of wine containers because they protect wine against oxidation and spoilage by yeast or bacteria. Argon is only 38% soluble in wine, which makes it an ideal protective gas, but it remains the most expensive to use.

Carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) is one of the most common gases used in winemaking. It appears naturally during fermentati…

The Four S’s of Wine Tasting

The Four S’s of Wine Tasting

A Wine Tasting may seem daunting at first, but with the four S’s and your personal Wine Consultant at your side to guide you, you’ll be a pro taster in four easy (and fun!) steps. Relax, there is no quiz afterward, and frankly, there are no wrong answers either. So pop the cork, sit back and read on to get started.

Hold your glass up a bit, preferably toward natural light and against a white background. How would you describe the color? Whites can range from almost clear to light yellow to rich gold. Reds can range from pink to purple to almost black. Color can indicate a few things – the varietal, climate where the grapes grew, flavor and age. For example, richly colored white wines are generally sweeter. Dark reds typically come from grapes grown in warm weather. And young wines are clearer than old wines. Unfiltered or mature wines may have some cloudiness, which is perfectly normal and fine to drink.

I Has A Sad

I found this little gem at the thrift store this week.

It is a BodyBugg by Body Media. I bought one around 2008 or so.

And I bought one off of eBay last year to help with me winning the weight loss challenge. I tried not to have it showing when I was out and about because I didn't want my competition to get one too! Above is a very rare pic capture of me wearing it!

I really liked this tool. When I got one however many years ago or so it helped me track my steps (I was working graveyard at the time) and I was doing over 20,000 steps a day. This was before I started running and tried to beat my walking steps at work. 20,000+ JUST on my shift at work.

But today. I was at the thrift store and my other half found it and showed it to me. I wound up getting it even though the eBay prices were not what they were last year at all. I resold the blue and white one above after I was done with my use of it last year and got my money back on it.

Last year I knew that BodyMedia (Bodybuggs make…
