Re-Thinking High Calorie Holiday Drinks

I'm pretty guilty on this. Consuming a lot of my calories through beverages. The cream and sugar in my coffee is always more then what it should be. Those Starbucks drinks are enough calories they should be a meal. Plus the wine and other libations, its a real waist expander!

Every Body Yoga Book Review

I am still reading away on a few ebooks I can download onto my phone. After the election, I received a free year subscription to The New York Times and that has been cutting into the book reading time. But I am slowly plugging away at the pages. Maybe a page or two an evening but its still page turning.

This blog post is a quickie review of Jessamyn Stanley's new book called Every Body Yoga.


I know you have had to have seen Jessamyn on Instagram as she has a bazillion followers. Plus shes been in magazines for being "body positive" and being a plump girl in a sports bra and leggings doing yoga. I think that her flexibility is awesome. Actually living the yogi lifestyle is something she appears to be doing while being true to herself. She always looks happy and I like that.

Timex Has Bummed Me Out

I'm a little bummed at Timex right now.
This ONE GPS+ watch was over $300 and I have had it just over a year. I had 3 years of data on this watch and now I have no data. I can't upload my workouts and stats to any site now - I was able to upload to Runkeeper and Strava. Now I have an overpriced watch that I can and should have kept my phone and its GPS functions instead of an additional accessory.

And is $50 and a half off code really a deal? Like I said this watch was over $300.

(Re) Losing Weight

So, all of my weight I lost last year, I gained it back. :-(

It was all because of lack of running, eating whatever was near, and drinking my wine. All of my clothes are tight. AND I did actually get rid of all of my "fat" clothes from when I lost weight as a motivation to not re-gain. So, I actually had to buy a pair of jeans so I had something to wear other then elastic waist running clothes.

I have put off getting a gym membership all year -but I did buy a treadmill earlier this summer. But my local small Po'dunk town had a Black Friday sale on gym memberships and I had to get on that. $190 for a whole year. They don't have a ton of equipment but they do have an indoor track I can slog on. I've gone a couple of times and even though its not my dream gym, it hasn't been too bad.

So this month is all about the weight loss. I didn't want to be starting this on January 1st. Mainly because of my Black Friday deal. Mainly because I can't fit into my jea…

A Perfect Gift For Spartan Race Fans

I'm in full on Holiday mode. I have been trying to find my other half the perfect gifts for Xmas but, seriously, he is the hardest person to buy for. Hes kind of a brat and has such high standards that its really hard. There are some things that he wants, but they are not the things that come up only during Xmas. Like, for the past few years, hes wanted a sterling silver pitcher. It has to be a good size and it has to cost below scrap silver value. A specific used antique like this is hard to find and even harder to find in the days leading up to Xmas. This is just one example why hes hard to buy for.

Healthy Tips for the Holidays

I got these tips from an email I was sent. I feel that it is full of good advice to share with all of you. I have been trying my best to add more veggies and water in my day. I could just tell that the weather changed outside as the desire to drink water just disappeared. I have been forcing some hot tea down when I don't want a bottle of cold water.

Tips to Keep You Happy & Healthy During the Holidays Eat Well Hold up. Practice the art of eating to 80% fullness. Imagine a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being full to the point of feeling bloated and ill. While you're eating, check in with your fullness factor and aim to stop when you feel between a 6 and 8 on the scale. Taste of reality. If you have a habit of tasting food while cooking or standing in front of the refrigerator, count every bite as 25 calories. For fun, designate one day to put everything you would have tasted into a baggie. At day's end, add up the calories...you may be surprised at how quickly &qu…
