Pure and Fresh - For Me!

I don't know what people are thinking stripping the stores bare of bottled water during this last couple weeks of crazy weather.

Um, duh, there is a mountain of fresh powder outside. Just bring it inside, boil it or let to melt overnight and look - water!

That is exactly what we did to fill up my coffee pot the other morning.

A certain someone ventured out bravely into the snow with a pan.

And he brought me a big pan of fresh snow for my coffee pot.

We let it melt overnight and fresh water was had.

We didn't have any yellow snow and there wasn't anything gross floating around in my water. I figured its pretty safe as we are not doing this often but I guess the water could always be boiled just to be extra sure.

Do you eat snow?
Do you have any emergency plan in place?

What To Do When The Power Goes Out

We had 13" of snow and snow drifts of 5-10 feet just down the street last week.

Freezing rain on top of all that snow, all the news reports suggested the power will be going out because of it.

They were not wrong.

So, what do you do when you were in the middle of laundry and had hopped on the treddy when the power went out?

You read magazines until it gets too dark then light some candles.

I wanted to get some form of workout in, so I really just hit the floor and did some stretching. I have been in need and need to do it way more often.

Then, opened up a Blue Moon. And waited til the power came back on. It was only 2.5hrs until it did.

How has your weather been lately? Any power outages to report?

Not Feeling the Training

I have been really struggling with sticking with a training plan for longer then a month or so. I really wanted to train for a 100 miler, but the training plan that lasts a year is really overwhelming me. Plus the high mileage isn't smart for me basically from zero mileage it feels like.

So, I dropped down to the 50 miler plan with an ok amount of weekly mileage, but life comes up and that went out of the window. I'm including the fact that the weather has been pretty crappy (Constant snow over ice and negative temps) and I've been without a car since September - I can't find one that is reasonable enough for me to buy and will do better in the snow then my Toyota truck with almost 500,000 miles on it. So, I'm picky and the snow and negative temps is making everyone a little cabin feverish.

I also have not worked out in a week because I had a bug and didn't leave my bed for a few d…

What community empowers you?

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is What community empowers you? We love our #sweatpink community, but we also recognize there are so many groups that inspire and encourage! There is strength in numbers. Perhaps you are inspired by your coworkers, Tuesday morning workout crew, mommy-and-me playgroup, or your family (we know that’s true for our cousin co-founders, Alyse and Jamie)! Give them a shout out today and thank them for encouraging you.

This fits right along with the post I did on the 3rd, that I am basically reposting it.

I am SO motivated by all the Instagram posts that I am always checking in to. #sweatpink is of course a good one.

But I have been most recently checking in on #IRunThisBody tag.

Every single one of you empower me to be my best running self. I feel like everyone is strong and amazing, and I know that I can always improve my …

Trying Things Outside My Comfort Zone

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is Try one thing outside of your comfort zone. Maybe it’s trying a new workout or speaking up at work. What’s one thing you can do today to push yourself outside of your comfort zone? “Progress always involves risks. You can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.” – Frederick Wilcox

I wasn't gonna do this post as pretty much everything is out of my comfort zone lately. Hello, Anxiety!  But I am not gonna flake out on this. I sat on the rowing machine. I mean the rowing machine, you need good form, and my form always sucks since I am so tight. And getting on it really is a full body workout. Its been YEARS since I have been on one. End of 2013 I think.

I wanted to be lazy today but grabbed my #Starbucks #coffee on threat to work & got a workout in. I really worked that row machine, did a little bit of everyt…

Sharing My Most Inspirational Quote

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is Share your favorite inspirational quote. What motto motivates, inspires, and empowers you? Share it with us.

Honestly, I feel awfully motivated by a quote I just read in this months Men's Health.

Honestly, how true - AND MOTIVATING - is this?

Your Body Is Your Business Card.

Its true. When I read this, it really hit me and really connected with me. We are all in this fitness world via blogs and social media and your body is out on display. Heck, my running times are on display, which is my running business card. And who doesn't want to have an impressive business card and resume? I am putting a little more focus on this quote this year as I want to have a better business card. I want my braggy business card and resume back as I basically let it go in 2016.

What is your most inspirational quote to share?

How do you stay motivated?

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is How do you stay motivated? The holidays and festivities are over and a lot of people are going through a January slump. What do you do to remind yourself to stick with your goals?

You know, as I put into my New Years Goals, knowing that there are those things out there - its all motivating to me. Plus, I DO want to lose weight. I don't feel like I look good and none of my clothes fit me - and I don't wanna buy new bigger ones. I did donate all of my "fat" clothes after the weight I lost as motivation to not gain it back. :-/ I have so many cute smaller clothes that I wanna get back into.

Plus, I DO want a tummy tuck and I want to brag about my running again. It pains me to not be able to feel as good about my running as before.

Plus I ALREADY bought a year gym membership - paid the year in full, and I …

Sweaty Selfies

I go into the gym to sweat. I like having the treadmill in my living room, but I honestly can't go all out on it as I don't like to sweat in my home. Plus, I can't feel strong and empowered without all those gym goers keeping their eye on me and my workout. Even if they are not looking at me, I feel like I need to impress them and push myself a little harder then what I do when no one is watching.

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is Sweaty selfie time. There are very few things that empower us like a sweaty workout. Our team loves HIIT yoga, running, and boot camps. What is your favorite way to workout this month?

I seriously love the elliptical. Its as tough or as easy as I want it to be. I made sure to be nice and sweaty as I know I have some toxins to release.

With the eliptical, it really does get me going. I really think intervals on it a…

Who Empowers You?

Moving right along here on the #IAmEmpowered bloggie train thanks to all this great writing prompts from FitApproach / Sweatpink. :-)

Today's bloggie prompt is Who inspires you to be your most empowered self? Is it your #wcw, boss, teacher, partner? How do they empower you? Now think about how you can start empowering others!

I am SO motivated by all the Instagram posts that I am always checking in to. #sweatpink is of course a good one.

But I have been most recently checking in on #IRunThisBody tag.

Every single one of you empower me to be my best running self. I feel like everyone is strong and amazing, and I know that I can always improve my fitness and running times, but I am just gonna keep on keeping on. :-)

Soul Patches Product Review

This post is sponsored by Soul Patches and no other compensation was given.

I used to wear high heels all the time. Until I started running, I would always be in a pair of heels. Now, they just plain ol' hurt my feet. Some of my pretty shoes are now too narrow as I think my feet have widened and lengthened a bit since running. I think I bought them before I started running. But some of them just have points that hurt to wear or stand in for any length of time.

Thankfully Soul Patches have come to my rescue.
Sole Patches are a thin cushioned patch that sticks onto the ball of your foot. The cushioning is made of Poron by Rogers Corporation, a special material that's shock-absorbing, antimicrobial, anti-odor, and has moisture-repelling properties, making it a perfect solution to avoiding having sore feet at the end of the day in uncomfortable shoes!

I have tried other brands found in the grocery store but I felt that they were too thick and made my shoe feel even smaller …

Something That Empowered Me In 2016

This is another writing prompt from the ladies of FitApproach / Sweatpink. This one is kinda difficult for me as I don't feel like anyone or anything really empowered my 2016. I feel like it was all me.

Share something that empowered you in 2016. Take a second to reflect and think about the things you did or learned in 2016. What empowered you to be your best self? Was it learning a new skill? A major life event? Taking a leap of faith? How will you build on what you learned last year? I did not feel I was at my best self all 2016. I was just in a funk the whole year. All of my running times sucked, training was flat out hard, my eating and drinking was crap. I've been in a constant state of stress in my homelife - I've been fighting with the MIL nearly daily. My BFF's mother passed right before Christmas. I did not have a good year.

But I tried to change it around. I have reduced my drinking - I've pretty much given up on doing at home wine tastings because I …

What Are My Goals For 2017?

You know, the beginning of the new year is always a refreshing point in time to restart nearly anything. I have already started a re-commitment to eating a smidge healthier and doing something active everyday. I also want to be a bit more active on the blog, here too.

The FitApproach/SweatPink community has a year of writing prompts that I think will be good for me too. Like with this post starting today. :-)

What ARE my goals for 2017? Heck, I don't know. I feel so lost in the sea of everything right now in my life. There are a few things that I need to work on.

I need a vehicle. I sold my car just over a month or two ago (the clutch was going out on it) and my truck doesn't do well in the snow. And its been pretty snowy this winter! So, my most pressing goal of 2017 is to find another vehicle. I have been looking for a few years, I have not been comfortable in any new car (all the blindspots and MPG has just been dealbreakers - I've test drove everything, I swear) and I …
